Artist John Kelly evokes the romance of island evenings through stylized figural composition. Created for Matson’s luxury cruise and hotel service, the design merges Hawaii’s natural allure with 1940s elegance and fantasy. Kelly was known for art depicting the daily lives of Hawaiian people, hula dancers, and island scenes. Matson Lines and Hawaii-based hotels commissioned him to design menu covers, promotional art, and prints.
