Created by Melbourne Brindle, this 1946 Matson Lines advertisement depicts a cruise ship with wings soaring over sunlit waters, and promises that Matson ships will bring the islands closer to mainland tourists. Brindle (1904–1995) was an Australian-American illustrator and commercial artist, celebrated for his dynamic, graphic work in advertising, posters, and travel promotion.
