Created by Louis Macouillard, this watercolor poster depicts an idyllic Polynesian scene with a traditional sailboat and a Matson liner on calm tropical waters. At the same time, children play in the shallow water, Tahiti's lush, mountainous silhouette rises in the background, and soft pastel skies call to mind the serenity and romance of island travel. Macouillard (1913–1987) was a celebrated watercolorist and commercial artist known for his maritime and island travel imagery.
