If "island vibes" had a founding father, it would look exactly like William "Chick" Daniels. Known affectionately as "the Happiest Hawaiian," Chick was a master entertainer, a soulful singer, and a local legend. By day, he was the most charismatic Beachboy on Waikiki Beach, and by night, he fronted Chick Daniels and the Royal Hawaiians, serenading Hollywood royalty and visitors alike at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel.
The Waikiki Beachboys were an elite crew of Hawaiian watermen who did it all. They were world-class surfers, expert outrigger canoe steersmen, lifeguards, and cultural ambassadors. They taught tourists to ride waves and play ukulele, all while sharing their culture and the joys of island life.
